First Circle

Wed, Sept 9- 6:00 PM, ages 10–13

RISING MEN

Where preteen boys become the men they're meant to be. The Rising Men Sunset Circle helps boys with emotional regulation, respectful communication, conflict resolution, physical movement, and mindfulness. They also learn about responsibility, integrity, healthy relationships, and what strength actually looks like.

THE PROGRAM There are six pillars: Root — Identity, values, belonging. Rise — Courage and resilience. Respect — Self, others, women, community. Responsibility — Ownership and integrity. Relationship — Communication, friendship, empathy. Purpose — Contribution and leadership.

EVERY CIRCLE has the same arc:

Movement: Move the body first.

Talking Circle: Say what's true.

Life Skill: Learn something you'll use.

Reflection: Sit with it.

The Challenge: Practice it this week.

Alison Mullins Alison has spent more than a decade guiding men's circles, work she now brings to the boys who will grow into the men she's already worked with. She's also the mother of boys who are grown now, which is where a good deal of this program actually comes from — not a theory of what boys need, but a mother who watched her own sons become men and paid attention to what helped. Alison holds space the way the desert does: steady, unhurried, and honest about what it takes to grow.

AGE TRACKS Two circles, one path

Rising Men, Ages 10–13 — Starting Sept 9 This is the age when a boy starts asking who he is — and starting to answer that mostly on his own. This circle gives him language for what he's feeling, practice building real friendships, and the confidence that comes from being seen by other boys and men, not just told what to do.

Rising Men, Ages 14–17 — Coming Later The second circle picks up where the first leaves off, as boys start looking past themselves toward what they'll build. It's about purpose, real relationships, and the kind of leadership that comes from taking ownership — the life skills and steadiness a young man needs on his way into adulthood.

**WHILE THE BOYS ARE OUT ON THE COURT

Heather will host a Sunset Social for the mothers at the Remedy Room lounge — built around a shared mothering theme, with light snacks, conversation, and each other's company while their sons are out on the court. One mothering theme. One thing to take home and use.
